Finally, they were walking up the path to the house on the corner. Friendly-looking pumpkins greeted them in the yard.
“I can do this,” Timmy thought. Gathering up all his courage, he knocked softly on the door and stood back to wait. Almost immediately, the door opened and a nice old woman appeared.
“Trick or treat,” the boys said, feeling very brave.
“Oh, look at you,” the nice old lady said. “Spiderman and a race car driver! How cute,” she said, dropping a bag of M&M’s into each of their bags.
“Thank you,” they said together, feeling very grown-up now.
“Happy Halloween!” the nice lady called to them as they walked away.
“Wow, that was easy,” said Johnny. “Let’s go next door.”
“OK,” agreed Timmy.
